The producer of the magnum-opus ‘Kanthaswamy’, Kalaipuli S Thanu has released the worldwide collection details of his film at a success meet held in Chennai on Sunday, August 30th. According to the reports, the movie has collected 37 crores world-wide.

Abhirami Ramanathan, who has distributed the movie in Chennai, launched a bus to promote the movie. The latest reports from the production house states that the total collection for the movie in the first week is Rs.1,73,43,778.00 with a total viewership of 2,48,047.

‘Kanthaswamy’ has grossed a record of 16 crore from Tamil Nadu, 8 crore in Andhra (released as Milana), 1 each from Kerala and Karnataka and 11 crore from overseas within a week. According to these figures, it appears like ‘Kanthaswamy’ has overtaken the opening collection and release records that the superstar starrer 'Sivaji-The Boss' set earlier.

The movie created a new record in Tamil cinema by being released in 18 theatres in Chennai alone. It has covered over 900 theatres world-over! Speaking to the press, producer Thanu said :The distribution pattern is such that we can recover our production amount in two-and-a-half weeks."

Well, do you remember the producer’s plan about releasing the film in Spanish, Italian and English? If that was to happen surely the revenue will come pouring says industry sources. But surely they must remember about trimming the film!
